Bonjour! Smile

Excuzes moi, je ne parle pas français et dois donc demander en anglais.

I'm'a kiter from Russia and I have a 2 month business-trip to Paris now.

I wonder, is it possible for a Russian girl to kite on weekends living in Paris not speaking French (without a car, but I suppose I can rent it)?

I would like to try to kite on French spots, but I can't find enough information about how to get there fast (I can travel only on weekends).

Thanks in advance for any answers on my questions (regardless in English or in French:)) :
- Can anybody take me (and, if possible, one more Russian girl working here with me, which is not a kiter yet) to any kite spot on any windy weekend till the end of August (since 8 of June)? Of course, we'll share the transport expenses.
- How much time does it take to get to any North-west spot by car? Is it difficult (I've never been driving in Europe - only in Russia)? Would it be possible to find companions here if I'll rent a car to go to kite spot?
- Is it possible to go to any windy kite spot by train on the week-end? Or may be not expensive variants by plane?
- Can anybody help me with getting from big cities which I can reach by train (Calais? Dieppe?) to any kite-spot?
- Are there any kite-stations on such North-west spots? (I'm'experienced kiter, but I'm'afraid to kite on the ocean alone, also I don't have a pump with me)
- Are there any budget accomodations available on North-west coast of France?

Thanks in advance for any info,

Tamara Smile

Hi !

A little tip: you should use google translate, it works very well for writing in French, and maybe get more responses Wink

If you work in Paris, don’t believe cars will be the solution: it’s almost impossible to park it or very expensive, and if you want to do some kite-trips or simply to drive away from the capital, you will lose plenty of time in the traffic jam, mainly Friday evening and at the return on Sunday evening (like most Parisians). Maybe the train is good option to travel faster (and find some friends / rent a car just for week-ends, on the spot).

- The closest destinations from Paris are surely the coast of the Picardie and Normandie (60/62/80/76/14 and maybe 50/35 to see the famous mont saint michel Neutral), but where are the best spot ? I don’t know … Maybe you should take a look at this website: http://trouvetonspot.fr/ and see which one could be the best for you.
- To get a good approximation of the time you’ll need to reach each spot with a car (without traffic jam, of course), just use googlemap.
- If you want to use the train, see the sncf website www.voyages-sncf.com
- If you want to meet new people and save some money by the way, use the carpooling websites like covoiturage.fr covoiturage-libre.fr etc.

You have understood: I’m a beginner in kitesurf and I won’t talk rubbish, also I let more experienced people gives you a precise reply.

Merci beaucoup pour les info!

Now it looks more clear... But even more complex Smile

At least I understand, that a car from Paris - is not perfect solution Smile

I can easily use google translate to understand French text - so I'd be happy to have French answers.

But as my french-speaking friends think, texts which I write using google translate are not understandable Sad

I've just finish analyzing such option:
- all spots from akifkite.fr are out of the cities which are accessible by train
- cars rent on site sncf.com is available only on working days...

Are there any spots in bigger cities which are accessible by train?

Thank you again! I'll try to travel using the service, but I suppose it would very hard without French language and knowledge of local geography...

May be there are at least any wakeboarding spots near Paris?

Last weekend I was in Jablines (on their site it is written that kitesurfing is authorised there), it was windy and warm - but their were no kiters, only wakeboarders.

Are there any kiters in Paris?? Twisted Evil Where do you kite?

Hello,

In general, inland lakes have very gusty winds. This is not very siutable for kiting. This is why people, at least near Paris and in France, prefer to go to the sea.

On south-west wind (forecast to next weekend) on which spot on sea some kiters can be found in France?

Hello,

The closest place will be in Normandie, around 2 to 3 hours drive from Paris.

There is a forum (don't remember the url) where people leaving in Paris can exchange in order to setup car pooling to the spots. I will try to find it.

Jean-Michel

Priviet Tam Wink

Did you find somebody to take you in his car to the coast ?

Until now I never kitted in North of France, many friends told me about the spot "Le Crotoy" that is good for beginners,
But apparently many people in forums talk about the spot of "Franceville" with more wind.

Both are at the same distance from Paris, around 2 hours by car.

I don't like to go kitting alone too, all the more in deep sea Mad, even if I got all the kite stuff here.

Tell me if you want to move.

Do svidaniya.

Ludo. Smile
